Why should I Mulch?

          One of the main reasons being moisture evaporation from the bedding soil which helps protect from the effects of weather by moderating the soil temperature and retaining moisture. It provides warmth in the winter and keeps the soil cooler in the summer months.

        Mulch is extremely important keeping undesirable weed growth under control, reducing the need for cultivation or the use of harsh chemicals. These same mulches also add nutrients to the soil improving soil structure and quality helping enhance plant growth.

How long does Mulch last?

Each year you can probably figure losing 1/3 to 1/2 of the mulch depth due to settling and decomposition. Color enhanced mulch will hold its color for a good 6-8 months before it starts to show some fading. On average mulch will last 9-12 months if put down at 2-3 inch depth.

What's the difference between hand-spread mulch and blown?

Blown mulch is layered on-site using a high blasted compression tube that is connected to a mulch blower truck. The added convenience of blown mulch is that it's faster, but faster is not always better in ensuring quality results. The downside is that it tends to go everywhere, the process can be extremely noisy, details sometimes overlooked and you don't really see how much you're getting.
